Final trailer for the Netflix series “One Piece” arouses anticipation

A lot of time has passed from the announcement to the release. But tomorrow the time has finally come: The live-action series One Piece is available worldwide on Netflix. In keeping with this, the streaming giant released a final trailer (see below).

One Piece will be available worldwide on Netflix from August 31, 2023 and will consist of eight episodes. The streaming service is said to have invested around $144 million for the eight episodes, which corresponds to $18 million per episode. This makes the Netflix series more expensive than Game of Thrones , whose production costs were around $15 million per episode.

Starring Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp and Taz Skylar as Sanji, the live-action pirate adventure is based on the popular shōnen manga by Eiichirō Oda, who also executive produces Producer acts. Fans will find out tomorrow whether his influence on the production is also reflected in the quality. What is certain is that the Netflix series should never have been published without Oda's approval.

One Piece is a Tomorrow Studios and Netflix production in collaboration with Shueisha Publishing. Matt Owens and Steven Maeda are writers, executive producers and showrunners on the series, while Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements also serve as producers.

The series is based on the most successful manga series in history. With over 460 million copies sold worldwide and more than 1,000 chapters , One Piece by Eiichirō Oda has become a global phenomenon. The TV anime adaptation, produced by Toei Animation and now comprising over 1,000 episodes, celebrated its TV premiere in 1999.

This is what One Piece is about:

This is the great age of pirates. With the death of the former pirate king Gold Roger, the search for the coveted One Piece , the greatest treasure in the world, began. Roger had hidden this shortly before his execution. Since then, the Grandline has been populated by nasty and lousy characters who lust for gold, wealth and power. Only one is somehow different. Once he ate the gum-gum fruit, now he makes every enemy tremble with his rubbery powers and murderous appetite – here comes Luffy, the future king of the pirates!
