May 12, 2023 is fast approaching, and yet it's relatively quiet around Nintendo's potential new gaming hit , The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom . But as announced, Nintendo released a ten-minute gameplay video today, which gives fans a first glimpse of what is happening in the game. The video can be found further down in the article.

Gameplay introduces new features

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is about to start and Nintendo has now provided another look at the game. In the new gameplay video, producer Eiji Aonuma guides us through the world of the Breath of the Wild sequel and explains some of the new features. Aonuma also reveals that the development of the game is now fully completed.

The four new features in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom presented in the video are time reversal , ceiling jump , synthesis and the ultra hand . There are of course many more to come.

With time reversal, Link can haul boulders and other objects back to their source, allowing them to reach higher ground. The ceiling jump allows Link to effortlessly scale mountains and buildings with the press of a button. Synthesis allows items to be combined together to create new weapons or elemental damage for arrows. The Ultra Hand ability extends the synthesis technique and allows vehicles to be crafted by combining materials in the environment.

Switch OLED confirmed in limited »Zelda« edition

At the end of the presentation, Nintendo also confirmed the new Nintendo Switch bundle, which, as rumored to suggest, will appear in the chic Zelda design. The Nintendo Switch OLED will be available in stores from April 28, 2023 – however, the game is not included in the bundle.

In addition, it was announced that a matching Pro Controller and a Switch bag will be available at the same time as the game's release on May 12, 2023 .

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was released in March 2017 for the launch of the Nintendo Switch and is still one of the most successful games on the platform. Around 25.8 million units were sold by the end of December 2021. This makes it the best-selling The Legend of Zelda spin-off ever. The expectations for the successor The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , which will be available from May 12, 2023, are correspondingly high.

Almost nothing is known about the history of the new part. The announcement trailer at the time only showed a new location for the action adventure. In the second part, Link will be traveling in a world high above the kingdom of Hyrule. The video features several flying islands that Link can explore with new skills.
