»Oshi no Ko«: Drama Idol Anime Final Release Date Announced

An extended 90-minute version of the first episode of Oshi no Ko was previously shown in select Japanese theaters on Thursday, March 17, 2023. Now the official start date for the broadcast of the drama idol anime on Japanese television has also been set.

Oshi no Ko will therefore begin on April 12, 2023 on Japanese television. Sentai Filmworks has already secured the rights to a simulcast and will publish the anime on their HIDIVE platform.

The anime adaptation is being made at the Dōga Kōbō studio and will be directed by Daisuke Hiramaki and assistant director Chao Nekotomi. The scripts are being written by Jin Tanaka, while Kanna Hirayama is doing the character design. Takurō Iga contributes the music to the series.

Oshi no Ko is based on the manga of the same name written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. Eleven tankōbon volumes have been published in Japan to date. altraverse publishes the manga in German-speaking countries.

How about being reborn as the child of an idol? This question has occupied Goro, doctor and hardcore fan of the idol Ai Hoshino, since it was asked by a patient shortly before her death. He works in a hospital somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Japan and that's exactly why he would never expect what happens next: his favorite idol suddenly shows up there pregnant with twins. She wants to secretly give birth to her children and then continue her life as an idol.

The months pass and the time comes to give birth to the children when suddenly Goro encounters a stalker of Ai's. He pursues him, but is brutally beaten down by him and dies. To his surprise, he ends up in neither heaven nor hell, but is reborn as one of Ai's twins…?!
