Dethroned: Attack on Titan: Final Season Part 3 trumps Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

March 5, 2023

Less than 24 hours have passed and the current third part of Attack on Titan: Final Season is celebrating an amazing success – at least on the anime and manga website MyAnimeList . Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 3 set a new record with an impressive rating on MyAnimeList and is now the highest rated anime on the platform. The series unseated long-time number one Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood .

The new number 1 of the top anime

The final season of Attack on Titan is on the home stretch and continued on March 3, 2023 with the first half of the third part on Japanese television. The first special of Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS is now also available on the streaming platform Crunchyroll. The second half will celebrate its Japanese TV premiere in autumn 2023 and will then also be available on Crunchyroll on demand.

The high rating on MyAnimeList is another sign that Attack on Titan still has a strong appeal to anime fans after all these years. With a current rating of 9.23 (from over 48,500 users) , Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS has surpassed the series Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood , which previously achieved a rating of 9.11 (from over 1.9 million users).

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood has been the highest rated anime on MyAnimeList to date, receiving rave reviews from fans and critics alike. The anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Hiromu Arakawa and first aired on Japanese television between April 2009 and July 2010.

However, it should be noted that this is by no means a permanent change. As an ongoing show , Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS is still in motion and could fall behind at any time – especially since the second special, which will be broadcast in autumn 2023, is still pending. But this milestone is still worth mentioning after all these years.

The production of the final season

Attack on Titan: Final Season was not created at Wit Studio like its predecessors, but at Studio MAPPA under the direction of Yūichiro Hayashi. While the 16-part first part ran on Japanese television from December 2020 to March 2021, the twelve-part second part was broadcast between January 2022 and April 2022.

Crunchyroll has already released the first half of Attack on Titan: Final Season on DVD and Blu-ray . The home video release of Part 2 will then begin in March 2023. ProSieben MAXX is also currently showing the final season as a German TV premiere .
