It's only been a week since the 20th and final episode of The Eminence in Shadow flickered across screens. Fans who thought they wouldn't hear from Shadow and his faithful companions for a long time have probably been fooled by a lie from the cult!

Shadow Garden will return and continue their ongoing fight against the Diablos cult in the next season!

This was announced at an event in the presence of several members of the cast. Along with the announcement, a first teaser and visual were released, which already reveal Lawless City as a possible setting for Season 2. As a result, part of the third light novel would be adapted – that is, a direct continuation of the previous storyline.

A specific date for the broadcast of the second season was not given. If this changes, our site will of course report about it.

The first season of The Eminence in Shadow was produced at Studio Nexus and directed by Kazuya Nakanishi. Sentai Filmworks secured the international rights outside of Asia and simulcasted the anime on their platform HIDIVE. The entire first season is now available there with English subtitles.

The Eminence in Shadow is an adaptation of the light novel series of the same name by Daisuke Aizawa. The novels have been published by Enterbrain in Japan since 2018 with five volumes so far. YenPress has published four volumes in English to date; a German publication is not available at the present time.

This is what The Eminence in Shadow is about:

A boy in modern Japan dreams of being a powerful mastermind, controlling everything from the shadows. But while training to achieve his goal, he is hit by a truck and dies.
Reincarnated as Cid Kagenou, he strives to live a completely ordinary life in order to continue his dream of manipulating everything from the shadows. One day he meets an elf girl who is infected with a mysterious disease and he heals her. Cid invents a story for her and explains to her that this world is secretly ruled by the Diablos cult. He and his Shadow Garden organization are the only ones capable of standing in their way and fighting them. The elf girl, now christened Alpha, joins his organization and begins recruiting new members.
However, all the stories that Cid made up are absolutely true, but he thinks they are just his fantasies. He continues to fight the Diablos cult under the alias "Shadow", unaware that he is in the middle of a complicated power struggle.
