It will still be a while before the highly anticipated The Super Mario Bros. Movie hits the cinemas. However, to pass the time, Illumination keeps releasing new clips and commercials. The new spot now even brings back memories of the 80s with Super Mario Bros. Super Show .

The new commercial for the upcoming movie (see below) quotes the theme song directly from the Super Mario Bros. Super Show , a live-action/animated series that aired in 1989. This is how Mario and Luigi's commercial plumbing service is advertised with reference to an actual website with some Easter eggs: smbplumbing.com .

The Super Mario Bros. film is a joint project between Nintendo and Illumination and will be in cinemas in Germany from April 6, 2023 . The plumber's cinema adventure was originally supposed to start on March 23, 2023 in the local cinemas.

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel, the feature film brings together the voices of Chris Pratt ( Jurassic World ) as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy ( Last Night in Soho ) as Princess Peach, Charlie Day ( Pacific Rim 2 : Uprising ) as Luigi, Jack Black ( Jumanji ) as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key ( The Lion King ) as Toad, Seth Rogen ( Sausage Party ) as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen ( The Mitchells vs. the Machines ) as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson ( Transformers ) as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco ( Catch Me! ) as Spike.

Producers of The Super Mario Bros. Movie   are the founders and CEOs of Illumination Chris Meledandri ( Ice Age , Despicable Me ) and Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo. Universal Pictures and Nintendo co-financed the project, while Universal acts as a worldwide distributor.
