
Quietly and secretly postponed: »Super Mario Bros.« movie a month later in cinemas

Just over a month ago, Nintendo and Illumination presented a first trailer for the upcoming movie The Super Mario Bros. Movie . While gaming fans are already looking forward to the theatrical release, it has been announced that this has been postponed by a month.
The Super Mario Bros. film is a joint project between Nintendo and Illumination and should start in German cinemas on March 23, 2023 . However, the entry on the Universal Pictures website made it known that the date would be postponed to April 6, 2023 .
The German date was thus adjusted to the theatrical release in Italy, Greece, Finland, Slovenia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela and Singapore. An exact background is not yet known.
Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel, the feature film brings together the voices of Chris Pratt ( Jurassic World ) as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy ( Last Night in Soho ) as Princess Peach, Charlie Day ( Pacific Rim 2 : Uprising ) as Luigi, Jack Black ( Jumanji ) as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key ( The Lion King ) as Toad, Seth Rogen ( Sausage Party ) as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen ( The Mitchells vs. the Machines ) as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson ( Transformers ) as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco ( Catch Me! ) as Spike.
Producers of The Super Mario Bros. Movie are the founders and CEOs of Illumination Chris Meledandri ( Ice Age , Despicable Me ) and Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo. Universal Pictures and Nintendo co-financed the project, while Universal acts as a worldwide distributor.
