Netflix is adding martial arts anime »Hajime no Ippo« to its catalog soon

Another anime classic for the coming year is already in the starting blocks on Netflix! Through a catalog entry with the SVOD provider it became known that in January 2023 the first season of Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting! is included in the catalogue.

Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting ! Available on-demand on Netflix in some countries. However, it is not yet known whether German anime fans will also be able to stream the martial arts series on this date. As soon as there is news about this, you will of course find out from us!

The first season of Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting! comprises a total of 75 episodes that aired on Japanese TV from October 2000 to March 2002. The adaptation was directed by the MADHOUSE studio and directed by Satoshi Nishimura, while Tatsuhiko Urahata penned the screenplay. The franchise currently consists of three seasons, a TV special, an OVA, and some video game adaptations.

George Morikawa's manga series has been published in Kodansha's Weekly Shounen Magazine since September 1989 and has published 136 volumes in Japanese trade to date. The series is not yet available in this country.

This is what Hajime no Ippo is about:

Ippo Makunouchi is a very shy student who has few friends and no time to make any, as he often has to help his mother with boat rentals. At school, Ippo is ignored by his classmates and bullied and beaten by some. When his classmates hit him again one day after school, the professional boxer Takamura comes to his aid. Impressed by Takamura getting the thugs to flee, Ippo wonders what it means to be strong.
