The 13-part anime series Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway was already running in a simulcast on Crunchyroll in the 2021 spring season. So far it was uncertain when and if there would ever be a disc release. The Berlin anime label has now announced that the RomCom anime will be released on DVD and Blu-ray next year.

Accordingly, Higehiro will be released in two volumes on disc from summer 2023 . Crunchyroll has not yet announced any further details. As soon as these follow in the near future, we will of course report about them.

Higehiro was created in Studio project No.9, directed by Manabu Kimikata, with Deko Akao writing the screenplay. Takayuki Nogichi did the character design. All 13 episodes that aired on Japanese TV between April and June 2021 are still available on Crunchyroll.

The anime is an adaptation of the light novel of the same name by writer Shimesaba and illustrator booota, which was published by Kadokawa from 2018 to 2021. The series is considered complete with five volumes.

This is what Higehiro is about:

After being rejected by his crush, Yoshida goes to a bar to drown his sorrows. On the way home, he sees a high school girl named Sayu sitting by the side of the road. Completely drunk, he invites her to his house and lets her sleep with him. The next morning, he is awakened by the delicious smell of miso soup Sayu is making in his kitchen, but he can't remember it.
