After more than 25 years it is time to say goodbye. Since 1997, Pokémon fans have thrilled Pokémon trainer Ash on his journey to becoming a master. In keeping with the anniversary, he is now to go into his well-deserved retirement and be replaced by a new generation. As usual, you can find a first teaser of the announcement below.

The Pokémon Company recently announced via Twitter that a new anime series based on the popular franchise is in the works. It is also known that the new series will start in Japan in April 2023 . The title has not yet been mentioned here, but a brief insight into the following plot has already been given.

This time it's about the two characters Liko and Roy, who start their very own adventure in the Pokémon world together with Felori, Krokel and Kwaks from Pokémon Crimson & Crimson . The legendary Pokémon Rayquaza is also set to play a major role in the series. Details about the contributors to the production are still pending. As soon as we know more, we will inform you about it.

With a tear in our eye and great respect we would like to thank the main character Ash, who shaped and accompanied the childhood of many over many years and was able to make young and old laugh again and again. Farewell Ash, maybe we'll see each other again!

Before the new series launches on Japanese television, eleven special episodes will air starting January 13, 2023, concluding Pokémon Ultimate Journeys , celebrating Ash's adventures over the past 25 seasons and offering a glimpse into his future. The Pokémon Company has confirmed that this is the final chapter in Ash and Pikachu's journey.

The Pokémon franchise is based on Nintendo's still popular video game series, which started in 1996 on the Game Boy. In April 1997 the first series started in Japan. In Germany, the latest season can be seen on free TV on SUPER RTL every Saturday and Sunday.

In German-speaking countries, polyband anime is responsible for the series' disc release and has already released the first eight seasons of Pokémon on DVD , with season 9 to follow on November 25, 2022 and season 10 on January 27, 2023.

This is what Pokemon is about:

The journey begins… It's Ash's tenth birthday and he wants to do what many ten-year-olds do in Kanto. He wants to be a Pokémon trainer! But it doesn't quite work as intended, because instead of one of the usual starter Pokémon, Ash has to make do with Pikachu.
