The 74-episode anime adaptation first ran on Japanese television from April 2004 to September 2005. The MADHOUSE studio was responsible for the production, with Masayuki Kojima directing. From March 2023, the long-awaited release on DVD and Blu-ray will take place through KSM Anime.

This is what Monster is about:

Düsseldorf, 1986: Kenzo Tenma is a Japanese neurosurgeon in Germany. Clinical standards expect me to favor powerful and wealthy individuals over lesser patients. He finds this practice repugnant, but defying his superiors is difficult for him – until one fateful day. A pair of twins are brought in after a brutal attack and instead of helping a politician, Tenma saves the twins' lives. Shortly thereafter, Tenma's superior is found dead. Nine years later, mysterious murders occur again. They are too similar to the past acts of 1986 and thus Tenma and the twins quickly become the focus of the investigations.
