Activate eSIM: Set up new number on iPhone & Android

Thanks to eSIM, a new or second number can now be set up completely digitally on the smartphone. We clarify which devices support the technology and how you can activate your eSIM.

What is an eSIM and what are its advantages?

The eSIM is a digital replacement for plastic SIM cards. It also dials your device into your provider's mobile network and makes it accessible via your telephone number. However, in the case of the eSIM, the necessary chip is already firmly embedded in the smartphone hardware ( embedded SIM).

This has several advantages: You can activate a contract with a new mobile operator immediately and don't have to wait for the physical SIM card in the mail. The eSIM takes up less space in the device and allows for a more efficient design. It also cannot be lost and produces no plastic waste or packaging material.
