Dark Mode is a dark theme for the Firefox browser. On the one hand, it looks very elegant. On the other hand, the dark mode ensures that you don't have to look at a bright screen in the evening hours. We'll tell you how to set up the theme in just a few steps.

When you have Dark Mode enabled, the Firefox home page and tab bar are dark. However, other websites are still displayed brightly. With the right add-on, you can extend the dark mode to all websites. That's how it's done:
- Click on the application menu with the three lines on the top right of the browser.
- Select "Add-ons and Themes".
- Next to "Find more add-ons" in the search bar, type "Dark Background and Light Text".
- From the search results, click the appropriate add-on, then click Add to Firefox.
- Go to "Add-ons and Themes" again and select "Extensions".
- Enable the slider next to the Dark Background and Light Text add-on. All websites are now displayed in dark mode.
Tip : You can always disable/enable the add-on using the slider or uninstall it.
Activate dark mode on iOS and Android
Google Chrome is particularly popular on Android smartphones – the in-house Safari browser on iPhones. But Firefox also offers a browser app for Android and iOS. And there you can also activate the dark mode.
iOS : On iPhone, open the burger menu at the bottom right and tap "Settings". Select "Theme" and choose a light or dark theme.
Tip: If you don't see a choice between dark and light, you must first deactivate the slider for "Apply light/dark mode of the system".
Android : On Android smartphones, you need to download an add-on to use Firefox in dark mode.
- Go to the app settings via the three-dot menu.
- Tap Add-ons, then tap View Firefox Recommended Extensions.
- Type "Dark Mode" or "Dark Theme" into the search bar.
- Have you found the right theme? Then tap on "Install Theme" and then activate it in the menu.
