"Raise your gun, now it's time to fight!" – Crunchyroll (formerly KAZÉ Anime) announced in today's newsletter the licensing of both seasons of the anime adaptation of Hiromitsu Takeda 's Maken-Ki! Battle Venus on. However, the Berlin anime label is still holding back further details about the disc release and intends to deliver them in a timely manner.
The twelve-part first season was produced by the AIC Spirits studio and directed by Koichi Ohata, with Yōsuke Kuroda serving as screenwriter. It was broadcast on Japanese television between October and December 2011.
A second season titled Maken-Ki! Two , which consists of ten episodes, followed in the 2014 winter season and was produced at Studio Xebec under the direction of director Hiraku Kaneko. Crunchyroll has not yet announced whether the OVA episode from 2013 will also appear on disc.
The action harem anime Maken-Ki! is based on the manga series of the same name by Hiromitsu Takeda and comprises 24 volumes that were published in Japan from April 2007 to March 2020. In Germany, the Panini publishing house has published 21 volumes in German so far.
That's what Maken-Ki is all about! :
Takeru couldn't be happier: He's starting high school at an all-girls school that just recently opened to boys. So many pretty girls are waiting for his admiration! The best part is that he also reunites with his childhood friend Haruko, who shows him everything about the new school. Among other things, he also learns that the students here have magical and spiritual powers that they can use using mysterious objects called "Maken" – and that they constantly do so in tough duels.
Not only is Takeru totally baffled by this, he doesn't seem to have a maken himself yet… So he joins an arbitration board that oversees the fights, the "Maken-Ki"! But things aren't going so well with the girls either. Inaho, for example, claims that the two are engaged, which he doesn't want to remember at all… Kodama, who is also part of Maken-Ki, on the other hand, absolutely hates him, which makes working together not so easy. How was that carefree high school time again?
