Crunchyroll Announces Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO Worldwide Theatrical Release

All Dragon Ball fans can look forward to the new blockbuster! Crunchyroll today announced that it has distributed Toei Animation's upcoming feature film Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO to theaters worldwide.

Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO is scheduled to hit international cinemas outside of Japan as early as summer 2022. The new cinema film will be shown in the original Japanese language with subtitles and in various dubbed versions.

Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO is Crunchyroll's first global film release, being distributed internationally by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment in North and Latin America, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East and Asia (excluding Japan). Concrete details about the theatrical release in Germany, Austria and Switzerland are still pending.

The second anime film in the Dragon Ball Super franchise (21st film in the entire franchise) is being directed by Tetsurou Kodama at the Toei Animation studio, with manga creator Akira Toriyama again being involved as a screenwriter and character designer.

Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO will celebrate its world premiere in Japan on June 11, 2022 after being postponed due to a cyber attack on the studio.
