KAZÉ Anime has to postpone disc release of »Pet«
April 12, 2022
The first volume of Pet was originally scheduled to be released by KAZÉ Anime in two weeks. In the current newsletter, however, the Berlin anime label announced that the disc release would be postponed by a few weeks.
Due to production problems, the first volume will not be released on April 21, 2022 as planned, but at a date that is not yet known. This will follow promptly, as announced by KAZÉ Anime.
Volume one contains the first seven episodes in German and Japanese language editions on DVD and Blu-ray. As an extra there is a 12-page booklet as well as the clean opening and ending. The concluding second volume (episodes 8 to 13) is currently listed for May 20, 2022 with a 4-page booklet.
Pet is an anime adaptation of the manga series of the same name by Ranjo Miyakes. This appeared between 2002 and 2003 with a total of five volumes, first in Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine and then again in 2009 as a remaster edition by Kadokawa.
The psychological thriller ran in Germany at the same time as the Japanese TV broadcast between January and March 2020 on Amazon Prime Video in simulcast. Made at Studio Geno, it was directed by Takahiro Omori and scripted by Sadayuki Murai.

This is what Pet is about:
At the beginning of the 21st century, the first individuals known as "Pets" appear, who can use their psychic powers to manipulate other people's feelings and memories. In order not to suffer mental damage themselves, they bond to one another through shared memory locations – like Hiroki and Tsukasa, who were found, raised and trained by the "company" as children. As adults, they can now get into everyone's head with their "Imagines". But Hiroki refuses more and more the practices of his mafia employer. He would much rather have a quiet life and own shop with Tsukasa. As Tsukasa attempts to avert any harm from Hiroki, he becomes ever more entangled in the clutches of The Company. But does he really want to get out?
