This summer, Mamoru Hosoda's new anime film BELLE will be released in German cinemas by KSM Anime. In order to get a first impression of the sci-fi fantasy anime that received the award for the film music, the Wiesbaden anime label released a first German trailer (see below).
BELLE celebrates its premiere on June 9, 2022 in around 300 participating cinemas in Germany and Austria. The anime film will be shown both in the original Japanese version with German subtitles and with German dubbing. In addition, all songs are given a German cover, which involves a special audio team, a music director and a professionally trained singer.
An official cinema list of all participating cinemas is still pending. However, this should be published soon.
Director Mamoru Hosoda, who also wrote the screenplay for BELLE , is known for films such as Ame & Yuki – The Wolf Children , The Girl Who Leapt Through Time or Summer Wars . BELLE was created at Studio Chizu, while Jin Kim was in charge of character design, which was animated by Hiroyuki Aoyama. The music was composed by Taisei Iwasaki.
BELLE celebrated its official world premiere on July 15, 2021 as part of the Cannes Film Festival. In Japan, the anime film was released in cinemas on July 16, 2021 and grossed over 6.53 billion yen (~ EUR 48.9 million). In addition, BELLE received an award in the Outstanding Achievement in Music category at the 45th Japanese Academy Awards.

17-year-old Suzu lives with her father in a rural town in Kochi Prefecture. When she was little, Suzu's mother died in an accident. She never got over this loss and for years she has been just a shadow of herself. One day she ends up in »U«, a virtual world in »Another Reality« with five billion users. There she is no longer Suzu but Belle, a world famous singer. In this virtual world, Belle encounters a mysterious dragon-like being who is feared in »U«. Together they embark on a journey to find their true self.
