KSM Anime Reveals Nationwide Theatrical Release Of »BELLE«

KSM Anime announced the licensing of BELLE , the new anime film directed by Mamoru Hosoda, last summer. Today, around half a year later, the Wiesbaden anime label unveiled the nationwide theatrical release of Mamoru Hosoda's latest work.

BELLE is scheduled to start in cinemas in Germany and Austria on June 9, 2022, distributed by Koch Films under the KSM Anime label. Further details on participating cinemas will be announced in a timely manner. When asked, KSM Anime was not yet able to answer whether this is just a one-off event or whether there will be further performances beyond June 9, 2022.

Director Mamoru Hosoda, who also wrote the screenplay for BELLE , is known for films such as Ame & Yuki – The Wolf Children , The Girl Who Leapt Through Time or Summer Wars . BELLE was created at Studio Chizu, while Jin Kim was in charge of character design, which was animated by Hiroyuki Aoyama. The music was composed by Taisei Iwasaki.

BELLE celebrated its official world premiere on July 15, 2021 as part of the Cannes Film Festival. In Japan, the anime film hit theaters on July 16, 2021. In Germany, KSM Anime already held exclusive fan screenings in Berlin and Hamburg in December 2021.

This is what BELLE is about:

17-year-old Suzu lives with her father in a rural town in Kochi Prefecture. When she was little, Suzu's mother died in an accident. She never got over this loss and for years she has been just a shadow of herself. One day she ends up in »U«, a virtual world in »Another Reality« with five billion users. There she is no longer Suzu but Belle, a world famous singer. In this virtual world, Belle encounters a mysterious dragon-like creature who is feared in »U«. Together they embark on a journey to find their true self.
