Microsoft Teams offers several ways in which you can share your own screen. We have clearly summarized all options for you in this guide. This is how you share the teams screen.

Regardless of whether you use Microsoft Teams on Windows or macOS, screen sharing always works the same. There is a special regulation for the Microsoft Teams web app, which is part of an Office 365 subscription, for example. Here screen sharing only works with the Chrome or Edge browsers. Microsoft Teams: Share screen in chat

In a private conversation, screen sharing works like this:

  1. Select the chat in which you want to share your screen.
  2. In the chat view, click on the screen sharing icon in the top right corner (arrow in the rectangle).
  3. Next you have the option of sharing the entire desktop or just a specific window, a PowerPoint presentation or a whiteboard. It is also possible to share a second screen. The audio playback of your computer can also be transferred or control can be passed on to another person.
  4. After clicking on the desired symbol, the person you are talking to receives a "call" that must be accepted. In this, however, the caller cannot be seen or heard, only his screen. A red frame around the selected screen shows what the other person can see.

Microsoft Teams: Share screen in meeting

The screen can also be shared in a meeting with several participants. If you start the meeting yourself, the icon for screen sharing can be found directly under your own profile picture, before the other participants join in.

If you want to share your own screen in an existing meeting, you can do this like in a private chat.

  1. Select the meeting in which you want to share your screen.
  2. In the chat view, click on the screen transfer icon in the top right corner (arrow in the rectangle).
  3. Next you have the option of sharing the entire desktop or just a specific window, a PowerPoint presentation or a whiteboard. It is also possible to share a second screen. The audio playback of your computer can also be transferred or control can be passed on to another user.
  4. After clicking on the desired icon, all participants will see your screen. A red frame around the selected screen shows what your audience can see.

Microsoft Teams: screen sharing on Android or iOS

In the Teams app for Android or iOS devices, sharing your own screen works as follows:

  1. In a meeting, select the options icon (three dots). There you will find the menu item "Share" and the icon for screen sharing (arrow in the rectangle).
  2. In the next step you can decide whether you want to share a video, photo, a PowerPoint presentation or your entire screen.
