If your Philips Hue lamp no longer reacts or you want to connect the lamp to a new bridge, you have to reset the Philips Hue lamp. We explain how it works.

Reset with the app

If there is a connection between the Hue Bridge and the Hue lamp, the easiest way to reset it is with the Hue app. The application is available for Android and iOS. In the app you have to proceed as follows:

1. Open the Hue app and tap on "Settings".
2. Select "Lamp Settings".
3. Search for the corresponding Philips Hue lamp in the list and tap on the i symbol.
4. Select "Delete".

Reset with dimmer

If you have a dimmer for your Philips Hue lamp, you can also use this device to reset it. To do this, simply press and hold the on and off switch at the same time for five seconds and the lamp will be reset to the factory settings. This is indicated by the lamp pulsing.

Reset with the Living Colors remote control

A Philips Hue lamp can also be reset with the somewhat older Living Colors remote control. Hold down the button of the first scene (dot symbol) and the on / off switch (I symbol) simultaneously for five seconds. A pulsation of the lamp indicates the reset.

Reset with the Alexa app

If you have not connected your Philips Hue lamp to a bridge, but via an Echo speaker with an integrated Zigbee hub (for example the Echo 4th generation or the Echo Plus), you can also reset the lamp using the Alexa app. You have to proceed like this:

1. Open the Alexa app and tap on "Devices" in the menu bar at the bottom.
2. Tap the plus icon in the top right corner, then tap Add Device.
3. Under the heading "Popular brands" tap on Philips Hue, confirm the Bluetooth query with "Yes" and then click on "Search devices".
4. Alexa will now search for new devices for about a minute, but of course they will not find any.
5. In the following view, tap on "Get help connecting". Scroll down to "Reset Philips Hue lamp".
6. The next step is to enter the serial number of the luminaire. This can be found on the base of the lamp. Make sure the lamp is on, then tap Next.
7. After a few seconds, the Hue light should flash and is thus reset.
