
Chromecast: change WiFi – this is how it works
Would you like to change the WiFi on Google Chromecast? This may be necessary if you bought a new wireless router or if you changed your wireless password. We reveal how you can make the Chromecast fit for the new Wi-Fi.
After a one-time setup, the Chromecast is already connected to the internet. However, there may be times when you want to connect it to a new network or you have to type in the new password. In this case you need to change the WiFi for the Chromecast as follows.
Change WiFi on Chromecast
- Make sure that your smartphone or tablet is connected to the same WiFi network as your Chromecast.
- Open the Google Home app on your device.
- Now select the corresponding Chromecast.
- Go to "Settings> WLAN> Delete Network".
- You will now be automatically redirected to the start screen.
- Now you can set up your Chromecast again and connect it to the new WiFi network.
Chromecast is still connected to the old WiFi network
- If your Chromecast is still connected to an old WiFi network, you will have to reset it .
- To do this, your device must be connected to the same WiFi network.
- Open the Google Home app.
- Android : Go to "Settings> Factory data reset> Factory data reset".
- iPhone : Go to Settings> Remove Device> Factory Reset> Factory Reset.

Chromecast was connected to WiFi that no longer exists
- Open the Google Home app.
- Go to "Add> Set Up Device> New Device".
- Follow the instructions in the app to set up your Chromecast again.
