Walkie-Talkie on the Apple Watch: This is how the
feature works
Owners of an Apple Watch can conveniently communicate with each other via the walkie-talkie app – quickly, easily and reliably. We reveal how you can use the feature on your Apple Watch.
Get in touch with someone quickly with just a tap – no problem with two Apple Watches. Because: Every Apple Watch is equipped with a walkie-talkie function that enables direct contact without having to make a phone call or video call. A range like a classic walkie-talkie does not exist with the Apple Watch, since the conversation works over the Internet.
These are the requirements for the walkie talkie
- Apple Watch Series 1 or later
- watchOS 5.3 or higher
- iPhone with iOS 12.4 or higher
- FaceTime app must be set up and FaceTime calls possible

Hi everyone. I’m not an apple product user soni don’t know much about them but I’m planning to buy either watch 5 or 6 sim version for my grandmother who’s alone during daytime. Can someone answer my question.
1. Is the watch usable without any phone, standalone?
2. Can the watch really send messages to emergency contact if the wearer fall?
3. How long is the battery life?
4. Is it recommended for old people?
