The Asus ROG Phone 5 gaming cellphone brings out heavy artillery. A Snapdragon 888, which can be further accelerated, accompanied by up to 16 GB of RAM and a 144 Hertz OLED display promise a lot of fun while mobile gaming. There are also a lot of gaming accessories like a cooler again.

The Asus ROG Phone 5 offers the latest high-end technology. The 6.78-inch AMOLED display has a resolution of 2,448 x 1,080 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hertz. This ensures sharp and fluid movements when gaming. The touch sampling rate is 300 Hertz so that every touch is registered immediately, and the current Gorilla Glass Victus serves as the protective glass. The Snapdragon 888 processor develops an even higher performance in "X-Mode", in which the chip only throttles at a higher temperature.

With X-Mode for additional performance

In X mode, however, the chip temperature rises in return for the increased performance. To counteract this, an optionally available cooler can be attached to the rear. The two shoulder sensor buttons known from the predecessor are again installed on the smartphone. As with the ROG Phone 3 (the predecessor, there is no ROG Phone 4), a triple camera on the back is responsible for photos. It consists of a 64-megapixel camera, an ultra-wide-angle lens and a 5-megapixel macro camera. The selfie camera has a resolution of 24 megapixels.

Comes on the market from 800 euros

The battery has a high capacity of 6,000 mAh and can be quickly charged with a 64-watt power adapter. DxOMark has already praised stereo speakers and audio quality in a test . With 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, the smartphone costs 800 euros, with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, it costs 900 euros, and the top model with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage comes on the market for 1,000 euros. There should also be a limited ROG Phone 5 Ultimate with 18 GB of RAM and a black and white design for 1,300 euros. The release date for the ROG Phone 5 models is March 24th.

The clip-on cooler will cost 60 euros. Optional accessories also include the Kunai Gamepad II, the Kunai 3 Gamepad and a professional dock for connection to the television.
