Apple not only presented the new iPhone 12, but also introduced a new accessory system – Magsafe. You can now find out what is behind the system and which accessories are already available for purchase.

The older ones will remember: the term "Magsafe" is not entirely new. It was Apple's own power supply connector that was built into MacBooks up to 2015. The plug of the power supply was attached magnetically to the MacBook and should come off the device quickly in the event of a fall to avoid damage. Now the system is used in the iPhone 12, albeit in a different form.

What is Magsafe for iPhone 12?

With Magsafe, Apple is introducing an ecosystem of accessories that simply adhere to the iPhone – magnetically. Magsafe is only compatible with models of the new iPhone 12 series, not with older Apple smartphones. Above all, Magsafe aims to make wireless chargers simpler and more efficient. The best thing about it: Apple has placed magnets around the charging coil, which ensure ideal alignment and connection with wireless chargers – the days when the iPhone slipped aside on a wireless charger are over.

Magsafe chargers work up to a maximum power of 15 watts. At the start there are not only new Magsafe chargers, but also matching cases or leather bags. There is also space for ID or a credit card. Third-party providers will also be controlling compatible Magsafe accessories in the future.
