The PlayStation Plus Collection ensures that PS5 buyers can play top-class games on their new console from day one. PS4 players are wondering: Will the new bonus for PS Plus also come to owners of the old console? We clarify.
Along with the price of the PlayStation 5, Sony also unveiled the PlayStation Plus Collection in September 2020. It is a collection of 18 PS4 games that can be downloaded to the PS5 as part of the subscription service at no additional cost and played via backward compatibility. However, according to the current status, the offer is ONLY valid for the next-gen console.
Exclusive benefit for PS5 owners
On the PlayStation blog , Sony writes: "PS5 owners with PS Plus can download and play a curated library of PS4 games". That is clear: Owners of a PlayStation 4 will not be able to access and play the offer on their console – even if they are PS Plus subscribers and the PlayStation 4 is technically capable of doing so.
The games library cannot be used outside of the PS Plus subscription or booked individually – neither on the PS4 nor on the PS5: "The PS Plus collection is an additional benefit to the existing PS4 benefits, the PS Plus Members get for a single subscription price, "the blog post said.
