If you want to know before the release whether the PS5 fits your interior, you can now place the next-gen console as an AR model in your living room. All you need is a smartphone that can handle augmented reality.
Sony has not yet announced official dimensions for the PS5, but the size of the console could be reconstructed using known sizes such as the dimensions of the USB ports and the width of the drive. Accordingly, the PS5 is a real colossus . Thanks to an AR model of the console, you can now check whether the huge part fits in your TV furniture – at least approximately.
AR model is not the exact size
The 3D designers of Virtual Studio have published an unofficial AR model of the PS5 on the website Sketchfab . If you visit the website with an AR-compatible smartphone, an AR button appears in the menu bar with which you can place the virtual console in your home as you wish.
Can my smartphone display AR content?
To view AR content on Android devices, users need a smartphone with Android 8.0 or later. In addition, the cell phone must master ARCore 1.9. iOS enables the display of AR content from version 12 on the iPhone 6s and newer as well as the iPad 5 and newer.
However, you should never consider the AR model as a 1: 1 model of the final console. The proportions give a realistic impression, but whether the model really shows the exact dimensions is questionable.
If you have a PS4 or other console at hand as a comparison, you can at least adjust the size of the AR model so that it roughly fits the real console. You can find the graphic for comparing the sizes of the consoles here .
