Launch of Motorola Razr postponed – due to high demand

Motorola recently announced that the Motorola Razr launch will be postponed indefinitely. However, not for technical reasons, as was the case with the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Rather, the manufacturer wants to meet the extremely high demand. However, the new launch date should not be long in coming.

Originally, the pre-orders for the new edition of the foldable smartphone should have started on December 25th. The official launch was scheduled for January 9, 2020. In order to meet the unexpectedly high demand for the cult smartphone, Motorola has now decided to postpone the launch, as Gizmodo learned firsthand.

Demand exceeds Motorola's forecast

A statement from Motorola said: "Since its announcement in November, the new Motorola Razr has generated unprecedented enthusiasm and interest among buyers. Demand is very high and has quickly exceeded our supply forecasts.

Motorola has therefore decided to postpone the advance sale and launch date of the Razr to meet the high demand. We're working on determining the right amount and want to make sure that more buyers have access to the Razr at launch. "

Motorola expects that the launch date will not deviate too much from the original sales launch on January 9.

Postponing the start of sales is also a good strategic choice

Postponing a start of sales is usually a minor annoyance for consumers. In this case, at least no technical problems are the reason for the delayed start, which is a good sign.

In addition, Motorola can once again stir the drum for the Razr at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The electronics fair will take place next year from January 7th to 10th. And Motorola may already announce the new launch date for the Motorola Razr.
