Google discovers a new security flaw in several smartphones from Xiaomi, Samsung and other brands. Check if yours is affected

Smartphone operating systems have evolved greatly in recent years. A complex computer structure that, like all of them, is practically impossible not to have any kind of failure , either mild or of greater severity.

And today we have learned that Google detected a security breach in Android 8 Oreo two years ago , being corrected but apparently still giving various problems. Specifically, according to the American giant, the reason is that the solution has not happened until the new versions of Android .

In detail, the Google's Project Zero team has stated that it is a security breach that allowed them to take control of the affected devices without the consent of their rightful owner. A failure of special importance that does not become critical since to be able to activate access remotely it is necessary to install a specific software in the terminal itself.

List of affected smartphones

As specified by Google, the affected smartphones are Samsung , Huawei and Xiaomi devices in general, including, among others, an Oppo or LG device. Likewise, the company has already contacted the affected companies so that they can take measures in this regard and can solve this security breach as soon as possible. At the moment, the affected devices (will be updated as they are discovered) are the following:

  • Xiaomi Redmi 5A
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 5
  • Xiaomi Mi A1
  • Pixel and Pixel 2
  • Huawei P20
  • Oppo A3
  • Moto Z3
  • LG devices with Android 8
  • Samsung Galaxy S7, S8 and S9.
